Preacher's Rock
20-minute drive. This viewpoint offers outstanding scenery and an enjoyable, easy hike. The trail is a 2.0-mile round trip with roughly 400 feet of elevation gain and takes about 30 minutes to reach the top. A great spot for a picnic with a view. This is our favorite mountain view hike.

Dukes Creek Falls
30-minute drive. Just outside Helen, GA, the Dukes Creek Falls Trail offers a scenic 2.3-mile round-trip walk through lush forest to a dramatic, multi-tiered waterfall that plunges about 150 feet. It’s a rewarding outing to pause, breathe in the mountain air, and soak in the sound and sight of rushing water. This is our favorite waterfall hike.
As a bonus after your hike, continue up the scenic road to Dodd Creek Lookout, where you can enjoy sweeping Blue Ridge views—without even leaving your car.

Amicalola Falls State Park
32-minute drive. The highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Paved path for easy access, but it IS uphill. There's also a staircase (425 steps) next to the waterfall if you want to climb all the way up to the top. You can also drive to the top for the view. Once at the top of the falls walk over to the lodge to get a bite to eat and enjoy the mountain views.

Mount Yonah
28-minute drive. Strenuous but rewarding, this hike offers some of the best views in the area. The 4.5-mile round-trip trail gains 1,500 feet in elevation and typically takes 1–1.5 hours to reach the summit. Once at the top, multiple spots provide stunning panoramic views. After the hike, stop by NoFo Brewery just down the road for a refreshing drink and more views of Mt. Yonah.

Lake Zwerner Trail
7-minute drive. Embark on a gentle loop around Lake Zwerner—also known as the Yahoola Creek Reservoir—where a well-maintained trail of about 3.3 miles winds through forested hills and lakeshore views. With two short climbs and a serene lakeside setting, it offers just the right balance of activity and relaxation.

Raven Cliffs
32-minute drive. Winding along the scenic banks of Dodd Creek, the trail to Raven Cliff Falls leads through moss-covered forest and beneath towering rock walls to a dramatic waterfall that pours through a narrow granite fissure. The 5-mile round-trip hike covers moderate terrain with enough ups and downs to feel like an adventure—but the stunning cascade at the end makes every step worth it.
As a bonus after your hike, continue up the scenic road to Dodd Creek Lookout, where you can enjoy sweeping Blue Ridge views—without even leaving your car.

Anna Ruby Falls
45-minute drive. If you are visiting Helen, GA, swing by and see Anna Ruby Falls. The trail offers a serene escape with ease — a short paved path meanders for about 1.0 miles round-trip through shaded forest alongside Smith Creek, leading to dramatic twin waterfalls where two streams converge.

DeSoto Falls
19-minute drive. DeSoto Falls Trail winds through lush forest along Frogtown Creek to reveal two stunning waterfalls (The Upper Falls is our favorite.) This easy 2‑mile round-trip hike with gentle elevation gain is perfect for a romantic outing. FYI, especially on nice weekends, road noise can be heard while hiking.

Brasstown Bald
50-minute drive. The very best vistas. Brasstown Bald is the highest peak in Georgia at 4,784 feet. There is a large fire tower at the top which provides 360 views. You can make this hike as challenging or easy as you want with multiple entry points up the mountain. You can even take a shuttle to the very top from the visitor center.
